From Our General Manager:
As we move into September, we are moving into the home run of the golfing season. This is the time to get as much golf in as possible before those nights draw in and winter will be on the horizon before you know it. The Course I believe is in excellent condition and I want to take this opportunity to thank David and his team on a great job, It was only just over 2 weeks ago Course Maintenance was carried out on the greens and looking at them and putting on them you would not know that was carried out.
Claret Jug as you know is on Saturday 28th September and I am kindly asking if anyone is willing to help us on the day to please come and see me, any help will be much appreciated.
The next divot evening will be taking place on Tuesday 24th September starting at around 4.30pm – we will put a sign up sheet within the Pro Shop shortly and again if you would like to offer your help please come and see us to express this, again any help will be much appreciated.
Finally I want to address the situation with regarding newsletters. I am fully aware that newsletters have not been sent in its normal regularity. This is because of issues with regards the software that the newsletters are constructed on and sent out to you all. It is a system called CRM and here at Club level all access that we have to the system has been shut down due to software failures. This means here at the Club we cannot access the system to both put a newsletter together and more importantly send one out to you all. This issue continues to be a problem and the Company in charge of this software is looking into the problem. While this is going on I have set up with our head office that any newsletter we produce on a Microsoft word document we will put on the Club website as well as putting copies on the reception desk here at the Club. I can only apologise that it causes frustration but as I have stated to people asking me it is out of my hands and we cannot do anything here at the Club only what I have put in place for the time being.
Enjoy the rest of the season and happy golfing to all.
From Our Seniors Captain:
Another very good home win on Tuesday saw us defeat Farringdon 6.5 to 0.5 – well done to everyone who played!
Congratulations to John Heron winning the 6th round of the ASDA competition with a mouth watering 46 points! In a high scoring competition Dave Smith came second with 43 points pushing Kevin Mortimore into third on countback and fourth on 42 points was Jeremy Gunn. Commiserations to the other 6 players with 40 or more points who only have the satisfaction of a handicap reduction for their efforts!!!
The Seniors Open takes place next Wednesday with a field of 109 players – we are still looking for volunteers to help with spotting so if you are available please let either Errol White or I know.
